Recipe tips and frequently asked questions
Is peach water good for you?
Homemade peach flavored water with no added sugar can be good for you, mostly because if you don't like drinking plain water it can encourage you to drink enough and stay hydrated.
Can I make bubbly peach water?
You sure can. For maximum flavor can infuse the peaches in a small amount of water and then once infused top up with sparkling water. Or simply pour chilled sparkling water over the peaches and mix-ins. The flavor won't be strong but it will still be super refreshing!
Can I add other flavours?
You sure can. In fact I recommend it! Some of my favourite flavor combinations include:
- Ginger, peach and orange
- Strawberry, peach and basil
- Lime, peach and mint
Can I use frozen or canned peaches?
You can but it won't have the same fresh flavour as using fresh peaches. You can add frozen peaches directly and let them defrost in the water, but its likely they will add some cloudiness to the water.
Ingredients
Peaches: You can use white or yellow peaches. You want beautiful fresh, ripe, juicy peaches for this recipe to maximize the flavor. It won't work well with underripe or firm peaches.
Water: room temperature water works best as it will help the flavours infuse initially. If serving immediately you can use chilled water, but your flavours won't be as strong.
Ice (not pictured): some ice helps chill the water more and make it fresh and refreshing!
Optional mix-ins:
Other fruit: including citrus such as orange, lemon or lime, berries such as strawberries, raspberries or blueberries or other complementary flavors such as mango.
Herbs and spices: fresh herbs such as mint or basil or spices such as ginger, cinnamon, cardamom or vanilla.
How to make Peach Water
Cut the peaches in half and remove the stone. Slice the peaches into thinnish wedges.
If using, prepare your other mixins. Slice fruit such as oranges, lemons, or mangoes. Pick herbs such as mint or basil. Thinly slice the ginger.
Hot tip: for milder herb flavor leave the leaves whole. For a stronger herb flavour you can roughly chop them, the choice is yours!
Add the mixins and slice peaches to a glass and top with room temperature water. For maximum flavor chill in the fridge for an hour or up to overnight to let the flavors infuse.
How to serve
To serve this infused water with peach top up with ice and enjoy!
How to store
This infused peach water can be stored for up to two days in a covered container in the fridge. The flavours will continue to develop over time so if you are using other mix-ins you may want to remove these before storing so they don't dominate the peach flavor.
